Disclaimer: this is an almost self-centered piece because I am going to explain why I am the ‘To-go-to’ advisor if you have an insurance need. And I would love for you to read this simply because it is about making a stand, for the platform that I am on.
Over the course of last week, 6 of my friends/clients asked me about retirement & investment planning and it is comforting to know that these people really do trust me and my opinion on the matter.
However, I got the feedback from 2 of that 6 friends that I am not their Top-Of-Mind person to go to when it comes to Wealth Protection solutions (e.g: health & life insurance needs). That is, I am viewed as the person who can help them “grow” their wealth but not the one whom can help them “protect”their wealth. I was curious to know why and in the end, I realise it is simply a matter of perception (not even because they have husbands/best friends/sisters/bro-in-law in the same line) I was quite bothered.
Because Financial Alliance actually partners with 12 life and 28 general insurers.
This means that I can
1. Find the insurer who can cover you for what you want, at a better value
Meaning to help you receive more for the same dollar paid or pay less for the same coverage received. E.g: Being able to pay $1000 instead of $1,500 for your insurance.
2. Find the best possible coverage for you even if you have some minor medical conditions/special situations
There have been occasions whereby I come across friends and clients without basic health/life coverage because they have minor medical conditions or slightly higher BMI. Thing is, just because one insurer will not insure you does not mean that ALL insurers will not insure you. It is possible to still get covered and to still protect your wealth. You just need to know how.
3. Help you better fulfil your needs
Different circumstances call for different solutions. Different people will also prefer different kinds of solution. It has never been and will never be a one size fit all for financial planning. Many times, insurance may appear to be the “same” but if you were to look beyond the basic features, you will realise that different solutions can work better in different scenarios. It is only the “same” when you do not have options and when you do not look past the face value of things.
The above reasons are why I feel exceptionally good whenever I make any recommendation ,be it for wealth enhancement (savings & investments) or wealth protection (insurance needs). Because I know that I am most probably giving the best advice that I can possibly give, given your circumstances, given the solutions available to you at that very moment in time. This is a promise I can make over and again and this is the edge of being on an Independent Financial Advisory platform.
It matters. Because a great doctor may be able to cure a sick man but it is when he is equipped with the relevant resources that the same doctor can cure 100 others.
So dear friends and clients, please do keep me at the top of your mind whenever you think of anything related to your finances and wealth. Because I am confident to always provide constructive and fair advice/opinion based on your profile..

All that being said… maybe I should briefly touch on the hot topic at hand;
Consumers being able to directly purchase certain insurance online.
Some of my clients have asked if I am worried in view of the shift and I think the above explains perfectly why the consultants at Financial Alliance are not. The online platform may assist consumers get better value (pt 1) and this would be a huge step forward for the industry. Because ideally Singaporeans will take a bigger interest in their own financial plans and practitioners & insurers will become more effective to stay competitive, thereby raising the standards.
But I believe I will continue to thrive because many decisions will still call for professional advice (pt 2 & 3). I also believe that people will always seek value and as long as I take heart to consistently do so, I will most definitely stay in business. This is my faith for the profession and my faith in La Confiance & Financial Alliance.
